You have a great collection of toned coins @4mile123. To make @Devlec envious is a feat. Great display @Devlec. Nice toned dollars @Cspence and @pocketchange50. Excellent coins with awesome toning, much appreciated.

I totally agree with SilverDon,.. 4mile123's coins above here are truly "jaw dropping".
No one could ever expect to find better toning.
Thanks so much for adding them here.

Thanks for the thread pocket change 50 and opportunity to post a few photos. I don't often get the opportunity to share these coins with other collectors. It's also been great to see some of the beautifully toned coins other collectors have found. Given a choice, I would pick a nicely toned coin over a brilliant coin every time.

I always appreciate when a collector starts a thread with photos of their coins and others add to it. It's only within the last few weeks I've learned to upload my photos. I appreciate the kind words and hope others will keep posting their images. 4mile you've got an incredible collection it makes me j ! It's the closest I can get to a coin show!! It's a challenge to capture the essence of toned coins. I'm very impressed by the efforts on these pages. A toned coin has character even the ones almost black.

Quote: A toned coin has character even the ones almost black. Here are 2 more..The 81 is not tough but just has pleasant toning. Now,..the 11 is very tough.. as it's one of 3 known at SP 66...(maybe this years Pop report had found another..?) A few years back,..it was one of two known.. but even I wish that it was a touch lighter..

Is there a fingerprint on the neck base of Vicki ? I have trouble telling if it's on my phone or the coin? Both are stunning pieces, there are amazing pieces posted. I'm in mode a lot!!

Yes..I would say that it's probably a fingerprint in the lower right obverse quadrant of the 81 50 cent coin.
Thank goodness that no one left that "souvenir" on the 11..
Shooting through 2 sheets of hopefully clear and un-fingerprinted plastic is always a challenge.
Some of the professional pics above show how good some coins can look when 'the pros in a studio'.. are taking the pics.

Wow.!!..Super examples again,.."the best of the best" ..but there must be more from others out there.. ..some don't have the best colour..but the bottom 10 cent coin is a full rainbow.. 1871 with a 7 over 7..and there are ~10 clashes in the upper left reverse field with a reverse image of the obverse bust showing. So many d/c's around through the leaves also. ..but we lose a lot of great details with a max of ~98 kb allowed here. So much more to be seen in my original 2 meg photo. . . .

Great coins DEVLEC, I especially like the two 5C pieces. It is so hard to accurately photograph these coins. I'll bet they are beautiful in hand.

That 1942 10c looks like it's photoshopped with images from Hubble. Incredible.

Just a couple more... the 49 has a double date that's not even showing on the ICCS holder.. This 03 is "by far" my best Edward and what's strange is that this 03 5 cent silver is thicker than all of my other 5 cent coins and has these incredible tall and square rims. If seen in hand ,..it's very special.. Frosty face ,..but the beard is "next to impossible" to get with great detail in this 5 cent series. I've added an extra pic for you to kind of get a closer view of a little bit of detail here.

1982 5-cent, proof strike. Almost all 1982 proofs tone in one way or another... this one is a particularly nice example.

Stunning example SPP. the 82 shows a composition change to 0.75 copper with 0.25 nickel.
Could you explain what has taken place for this to tone as it did..?(bad mixing,..or too much copper?)
..and should everyone add a coat of clear to stop this toning from continuing..?
..and finally are the 82 SP's.. ie..or the PL's also toning like that..?
