Quote: My fiancée has become accustomed to handing over cash and coins when we are shopping, so I can inspect them for anything odd/rare/collector-worthy, etc. One time she did this, some lady at the grocery store started criticizing me for what she thought was my controlling the purse strings. I explained what I was doing, though I am pretty sure this just served to confuse her even more. I'd say your fiancee is a keeper.

When you bring you computer into the bathroom with you to keep on searching CCF, or when your friends get annoyed at how often you talk about them.

While Christmas shopping yesterday:
Cashier: Would you like to round up and donate your change to St. Judes Children's Hospital. Me: Not a chance. I'm a numismatic.
Cashier gives me a look like I had some kind of disease.

...your waste basket is full of cotton gloves, cello wrappers, frosty lenses, 2x2s, bubble envelopes, small boxes and packaging. Always.

When you drive up to the ATM and withdraw $40....then circle the bank, park and take the $40 in and exchange it for rolls of coin while thinking..... what do I need cash in my wallet for? I have a debit card and can buy anything I want with that

I'm like Ed, I try and see every Canadian coin on ebay. It's a good thing the selection isn't as large as for US coins, I'd really be in big trouble!! Also when you pursue coin related activities to the exclusion of other options for disposable income or spare time! You use your iPhone mainly for coin photos, CCF, ebay and viewing new coin releases. When ph calls are a very distance use of the said iPhone. Finally the iPhone hasn't enough storage for coin photos, so you buy a touchscreen notebook with 500 gb of storage and wifi, solely to use in pursuit of coin related activities, cause after 18 months your iPhone is giving up the ghost, and you realize you need it more as a ph!! Or when you have 1,085 post on CCF in only 22 months of joining, and you started out knowing absolutely nothing about coins.

When you blather on to people about coins and realize 1/2 hour later that they are just humoring you. I thought you were into it as much as I was! HA!

When you ask to go through your friends' fundraising money. Sadly, I have yet to find anything.
I recently gave a presentation about the underlying values of beauty/value/rarity in numismatics to my class to explain why coin collecting is so important to me, and that friend suddenly realized why I wanted to go through his change.
