During my hunt yesterday I received an unopened box of 2014 BU pennies. They are in rolls and appear to have never been opened or circulated. Are these worth holding on to? My initial thought is yes but I wasn't sure.. Thanks!

Your call. I'd say no though. When folks here get a box like yours they may open a few rolls to find high MS grade coins to put aside. You may also be inclined to search for varieties for this year. Go to Coppercoins to see what to search for. Otherwise you are largely better off trading in for mixed date rolls.

I would hang on to them. But then again, I tend to hang on to everything.
I'm sure you could make a little bit of money if you put them on ebay.

I'd say remove a few rolls or so and then turn in the rest.

I would stash it. Wrap it up and put it in the closet for a while, a long while. 25 bucks isn't going to break the bank hopefully so why not just set it aside.

To CCF!

IMHO, keep 1 or 2 rolls and turn in the rest!

Check out ebay. I have sold boxes of new cents for $50 plus shipping. Nothing wrong with doubling your money

I'd keep a couple rolls. Don't think I'd keep the whole box though.

Thanks for all the replies, the community here is great! For right now I may just hold onto the box but just removing a few rolls and returning the rest may be something I'll do in the near future. Unfortunately I've found some of the banks around here get pretty weird when you ask for $20-25 in pennies. A few of them just straight wouldn't give me any pennies!

Last time I did a pickup and got 2 new boxes, I sold those exact boxes on ebay for $88. When you take out shipping and ebay fees, it was a easy free $15.

Keep a roll, put the rest in circulation.. Billions are minted every year and although they are no longer minted for circulation, at least for now, there is really no numismatic value except for a rarity or two.

In 10 years there may not be ANY coins being used. But if there are - with over 300 Billion estimated cents in circulation today chances are pretty good that cents will still be in circulation in 10 years.
