I'm just curious. Has anyone else noticed the egregious errors in every issue of CCN? If so, does anyone else care? The publisher and editor apparently don't care. I have contacted both and yet the errors continue.

Current edition:
Page 1 "Barrack Obama" or "Barack Obama" ?
Page 22 "mountain on the back of the $5 note"
Page 33 Macdonald "lost that election (1891) to Sir Wilfrid Laurier."

Finally someone else noticed it. Plus, at times, the Grammatik...just read the paper, most of it is not up to journalistic levels.
The also to not respect copyright and take the position that if something has been published somewhere else, they automatically have the right to copy and publish. NOT so.
My current subscriptions e-and paper, will not be renewed.

A strange hobby indeed me thinks. Reference material is outdated the minute it hits the street and Charlton is not much better.

AND, most of the pages are packed with ads, BIG time ads. The actual true numismatic content(like numismatic information of value, NOT ads) has become a very small part of it.
Here is an idea:
Perhaps RCNA would start to publish a monthly without the ads and compete with CCN and trends

I would rather see the CN Journal become a bit more scholarly in nature, and be a true numismatic, peer-reviewed, journal...

I canceled our subscription 2 years ago, trends didn't seem to change and the news wasn't that exciting.

SPP, do you really think / hope, that this will have a realistic chance to happen?, given the present situation?

If the ads go away, so will the newspaper. I doubt subscriptions keep it afloat. Digital future or no future.

I gave up on that rag ( paper) a few years back.
The content wasn't the best and when I had a problem
(I paid extra for it to come in a envelope to my house
which they forgot to do ) they didn't seem to care I was
not happy .

Elsewhere, I pointed out the special 1937 [sic] dot coins. Beyond that typo, was the delusion that anything but 25c dots were released to circulation.

CCN doesn't seem to be trying to foster the hobby. The variety of articles is disappointing. There are a bunch of people on here that could create amazing articles. Are any of you ever contacted?

> I would rather see the CN Journal become a bit more scholarly in nature, and be a true numismatic, peer-reviewed, journal...

Are there enough trustworthy peers to do that review?

I think the publisher of CCN has lost interest in the publication (or at the very least he has shifted his focus), as he appears to be more focused on his new Lighthouse reseller business; which is very telling unto itself. Considering there is no material substance to CCN anymore, virtually no updates to Trends whatsoever, and the announced departure of Bret Evans, I don't see the material benefit to the hobby for the publication to continue operating. It's basically been reduced to a rag-mag of ads.
