After a Jersey pound, here's a British uncirculated 1985 pound coin from my collection plus a typical specimen pulled from my pocket change for comparison! The 1985 pound coin is extremely common, but is weakly struck and has worn very badly. It was the first issue with the Welsh Leek reverse and the first to bear the Raphael Maklouf portrait of the Queen on the obverse. It's not unusual to find dateless examples in change, and on some specimens the words "ONE POUND" have completely worn off. If TPG ever takes off in the UK, I daresay that high MS examples of this coin might become greatly sought after!

One from my lowball collection... which in this series is hard to do, since these coins did not circulate regularly, and are composed of pure nickel...

Quote: The most boring FAO coin? Bungle - I think you may be right! Actually the British 1985 pound would have made quite a good FAO coin, especially if you like leeks!
