Very nice! I will not complain that the 1555 came early. But 1554 should wait until tomorrow hits the US east coast.

Um... oops?
I acquired an 1555 coin yesterday (and actually took the time to make some photos - very unusual for me), but was too busy to post it in the last two hours, and I guess it won't be correct to post it now given that there's an 1554 posted already.
I suppose I could always try to post it on the next opportunity (my current best guess is about two and a half years).
EDIT: Or I suppose we can say that the last 1555 was not posted compliant to the rules, repost the 1555 again, and declare it 1555 day. But that would probably be too complicated, and certainly too unfair to flippy (it's not flippy's fault that I just happened to get an 1555 coin a few hours too late). So, hope I still remember in 2019, I guess? (My proposal for a "dated pre-1600 coins" thread was not accepted, unfortunately.)
EDIT 2: actually, on further recollection, that was on Wednesday, not yesterday. But I had an exam yesterday, so too busy anyway. (And, again, not flippy's fault at all.)

Well I, for one, would love to see your 1555. If JBuck won't let you slip it in, then please post a pic over in the ancients section. 2019 is too long to wait.

Please post your 1555, january1may! I will certainly allow it since the other 1555 came early. Given how few coins we have coming during this stretch, I am okay with a one or two day grace period, especially when someone makes an effort to acquire the coin for a certain year.

I wasn't actually looking for any particular year. I just went looking for 16th century dated coins again and got lucky - didn't even realize it would fit until later. Also - you might have guessed from the "denomination run" thread - smartphone camera, shaky hands, overhead lamp. At least this time I could focus on a single coin; OTOH, I couldn't find a tiny-focus setting, so I had to photograph the 12 mm coin from something like six inches away. Suffice to say it's probably better in hand (assuming it's viewed through a magnifying glass, and/or by someone with at least 6 diopters of short-sightedness). OTOH, the ugly green spots didn't show up very well on the photo, so I'm not actually sure Lithuanian denar, 1555 (I think). I'll leave the Kopicki number (if any) to someone who knows better.

@january1may, I like it! It is a brother to the somewhat damaged 1559 Lithuania Denar that I posted a few days back. Thanks for posting.

Here is a Sechsling of the German Duchy of Mecklenburg. It comes from the Gadebusch mint and is dated 1552. The attribution is Saurma 3579.
