@coincollector2012, you have a fine collection of uncurculated Washington quarters. Mine were mostly plucked from circulation when I was a kid.

NumisRob-
Just to let you know that I look forward every day to see not only what coin you have selected, but also the "history lesson" that accompanies it.

Keep them coming.
I agree. While the pictures are great, history is an added value to this thread.

1949 cupro-nickel halfcrown from New Zealand. Like the UK, NZ eliminated silver from circulating coins after 1946.

Thank you so much for your compliments. I have posted most of the Washington quarters I have. I don't have one for today, but I will have another one tomorrow. The good news is if you guys like my quarters, you will also like my Mercury dimes.

1948 British halfcrown. This date used to be extremely common in change when I was a little boy!

How-Far-Back-Can-We-Go?-Third-Edition!-Ended-At-1487-Waiting-On-1486

1948 was the last year that British coins showed "IND IMP" (Emperor of India) as part of the King's titles - India had become independent the previous year!

The first 5 yen coin made of base metal.
Just 18 years earlier, 5 yen coins were made of gold.
