Well, it's still impressive enough that I'm jealous.

Out of well over 100 Albums I have only one for Large Cents. AND it is a year only Album. Still need 5 more for even that one. At coin shows I see many Large Cents but usually all the same years. And some that are in decent shape are priced as high as my car. This is one heck of a difficult collection to ever complete.

Very cool collection. as a large cent collector I fully understand your excitement and your deflation over those empty holes. Many of those same spots mock me as well.

That is a wonderful set you have. Very impressive and hopefully your frustration at the holes needing filled turns into great satisfaction with all the ones that are not vacant.

I collect the Sheldon varieties, primarily - there are 270 of them (give or take). Let us just say that I am a long way from completing the set. But that is the fun of it, I guess.

My 7099 has 26 coins so far including the Chain and 1799. Got those out of the way first. Take your time and buy the best quality coins you can afford. My advice to U :-)

All I can say is good luck. I started this book set about 6 years ago, but with all the different varieties of certain dates, I was left clueless. I backed out my coins with multiple varieties, and bagged them up by year, with the intent of going down to my local coin store, and see if they can't tell what varieties I may or may not have.

IMO you have to really love this set to have any chance. Relying on yourself to identify the varieties is most of the fun. In my experience your average coin shop is going to have less idea about large cent varieties than the average CCFer who reads every topic regarding old copper...

A message to thecoinguy1964 and any others with un-attributed large cents: Post pics of them and I and the rest of the community will be more than happy to help you attribute the die varieties. As large cent collectors this is what we live for

I'm no coin expert, and probably too lazy to become one, but if I can ever figure out how to post a high quality close up of a coin, I'll then post them for ID. Thanks for the input by both of you.
