Hello all!!
So another lot purchased, including this beauty! A 1957, Bank of Upper Canada Penny. It has sharp details, and minimal wear. Colour is a bold red/brown. Any Info/grades/valuation on this coin would be appreciated!! Thanks to all who contribute.

I see a lot of wear on the rider and the crown.

Again maybe VF20

I don't know where you're seeing "sharp details, and minimal wear" (and you keep saying that for your heavily worn coins). This token is heavily worn and details are flattened.

would grade this a G-6 (going by what I see in C&C, especially the central designs like the sword and leg). Book value for a VG-8 is $4, so yours has minimal value. Fields look lighter than around the tight spots of the design so it may have been cleaned.

And if you can, can you not use the characters "~" and "*" to enclose details... it kind of grates on my nerves.

I recently posted one of these in equivalent condition, and it was judged as VG.

SlurExe97: first of all, I could care less what gets on your nerves and think its humorous you allow symbols in my titles to irritate you. I do appreciate all grades, but if you are using Coins&Canada as a grading reference your opinion is of little interest to me anyway...
I ask that if you don't like the way I describe my coins, the symbols I use in my titles, or the way I grade coins, then please just stay off my thread and say nothing at all. Also, when a coin is cleaned the tight areas are darker & untouched, the open fields are lighter & hairlined..thats just common sense...

At the same time, dirt and grime tends to build up around lettering and designs...no?

these tokens are awesome, just love the design on both sides. I'd grade it somewhere in the 8-10 range. Doug will probably give you all the needed info on the coin. Nice one U-Luc.

Ah well still not bad, I paid around $2.00 for it so I'mhappy to add it to the book...came along in a side lot during a silver purchase today...I really have a hard time passing on anything from the 1800's....Definitely wasn't the prize of the lot tho. Thanks for the info all!!

Luc: I believe VG 10 is about right for this coin...

The way I read it.. you're both saying the same thing... is that common sense to use such aggressive language when you're both saying the same thing?

I was bothered by the other comments made... I have no problem with any grade or "cleaned" tag....my problem is the direct critique of my post as well as other posts ive made. I mean it when I say "grade away"....they are all welcome, but as soon as I feel the criticism moves from the coins to me as a member, ill speak up. No hard feelings here tho...

UncleLuc, you have a thin skin. If you feel the need to insult me over my opinion and a simple request, then it's your loss. This will be my last post on this thread.

if you don't want comments, suggestions, opinions & feedback (all of which at some time or another might conflict with your own perspective) then a public discussion forum might not be the place to post a thread asking for comments, suggestions, opinions and feedback.

the token does not show sharp details or minimal wear (in fact exactly the opposite), and IMHO it would be VG8-VG10
