They do not need to have actual dates, just have to be able to date them. If the undated ones are only from 488-489 then they would qualify, I would think.

Ok yes just to be clear, we are looking for coins which if not dated, then were first minted in the decade of the 480s but were not minted for more than 10 years (i.e. 488-497 AD would count). In a perhaps related development, one of those Kavad I drachms is now listed as sold.

One of the few holes I have in my quest is 482. A few more in the know than I have indicated it may not exist, that this decade was very sparse for minting. Maybe I get lucky?

Arrived today...much nicer in hand.... Sassanian Drachm of Valkash 484 - 488 C.E. Obverse: Bust of King Valkash to right, wearing mural crown with korymbos set on crescent, ribbon on left shoulder, flames on right Reverse: Fire altar with ribbons and head of Valkash to right on shaft, flanked by two attendants, star and crescent flanking flames. Mint LYH Rev-Ardashir Khuzistan.
