Hello! I found this 1938 LWC CRH about a few months ago. I almost missed it because of the luster! So, whats the grade/value? Thanks!

The luster comes across well enough, but it's difficult to see the details of the coin. From what I can see, it looks MS63 RD.

Quote: it's difficult to see the details of the coin Sorry about that, I'm using my iPhone 4S and my 40x Loupe to take pictures... Not the best way! Quote: MS-63 RD Thanks!

The discoloration makes it hard to grade your coin. While it looks like a MS coin, the eye appeal is distracted by the discoloration. What caused this/what is the stain/finger prints/if this is verdgris all factor in that an image doesn't provide. Glare in your image is something you might consider. I defeats grading as it can hide/obsure/enhance unwanted things about your coin. So a lot of factors figure in. The coin need to be seen hands on to see what you have. Here is an online grading site for images that might help you: http://www.pcgs.com/Photograde/Factoring in coin contact that lowers grading you can get an ides for coin wear from these images. Stains/distractng eye appeal/contact marks all reduce the grade of a coin.

I don't think it's a mint state coin, I can see some wear on Lincolns jaw but your pictures maybe aren't telling me the best. AU

I'm at AU58. You don't need to use the loupe to get a clear picture, in fact, it probably make it more difficult. Just shoot straight on, crop and enlarge.

Child - find an object, about 3" tall that will allow you to place the phone onto it to keep it steady. Play with the lighting so that you can put light onto the coin without creating a shadow with your phone. Use the zoom feature on your phone to size the picture; keep the coin just inside edges of the picture. Then use the edit feature to crop the picture. When you like it, upload the picture to your computer where you can play with it more as necessary to sharpen contrast or adjust light/shadows/color, etc.
Have fun with it! Take pictures of coins takes some work but can be enjoyable too trying to dial in on the perfect picture. I use my iPhone5 without a loupe for most shots. However, when getting into a fine shot for a variety, you will have to practice shots with your loupe involved. Good luck!
PS - great find on your '38! An AU coin by my estimation and unfortunately, some light staining. I've a few of those to my credit, but seeing the details of a coin coined 77 years ago is still quite a thrill on a circulated coin.

The coin exhibits signs of circulation. Probably AU53 55 tops. Value...about $1. Still a nice find
