Kind of looks like a cigarette light (bic) may have heated that area and the bubbling is around where the area heated happened. It is a darker color in that area?
I'll look at it better tomorrow. My "research station" is just outside of our bedroom, and my husband is sleeping. I wouldn't want to blind him in the night!
Iv done those kinds of tests and if it was from a flame it would need to of been a very small but hot one. I don't think a lighter would be able to do that.
It is possible cause there is defiantly rot there but to only be there and in a full circle' not having a beginning or end, I would lean towards heat like coop said bur I completely agree with silver world that Def not a Bic maybe a little butane lighter could do that but I think the color damage would be worse. Someone with a butane lighter needs to conduct an experiment
I think it is clear PMD is safe to say,the Why and How is a bad bet guessing game. I am not clear myself why/how this happen to the Cent,public handling is a sure bet overall.
