Hello all. Not much to tell other than I've always had a passing interest in coins and dollars and I decided I want to get more into it. So I look forward to learning a lot in this community!

Greetings one and all! I am a new member and appreciate the opportunity to be involved with you all who have developed a great knowledge and history of coins. One of my projects will entail the Lincoln Cent. I have 2-3 gallon jugs that I put away 30 or so years ago and I plan on going through them to see if there is anything worth talking about. Any suggestions from this group as to what to look for (special years, irregular die strikes, abnormalities) would be greatly appreciated. Also, there has been a lot of talk about counterfeit American Eagle Silver dollar coins popping up, mainly from China, which are surprisingly an almost exact replica of those produced by the U.S. Mint. How does one determine whether a Silver Eagle Dollar coin is counterfeit or not? While there is an established weight for the American Eagle coin, which may vary slightly + or -, is there a minimum weight where the probability of the coin being counterfeit is most likely? And, short of an analysis of the metal content, how do you determine the coin is really silver? I once heard of a story, not sure how true it is, concerning a 1917 U.S. quarter which was counterfeited by Russia. The U.S. Government decided not to take any action with the counterfeits. Why? Apparently there was more that 25cents worth of silver in the coin.

Hello. this is Glacier-Blue again. Sorry,I didn't fully finish my introduction I had to take care of a problem. Anyhow, I was born and raised in the Big Apple, mover to California for 11 years (lived next door to the old Corriganville Ranch in Simi Valley, and near the old Spahn Ranch in Santa Susanna Pass); moved to Alaska for 10 years; back to San Diego for 20 years; and, finally to Texas. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will answer you! Happy to be here and to learn more about coin collecting.

Hello. New member here. And fairly new to coin collecting. Though I have always liked coins and had a small stash. I have mainly been collecting pre-64 United States coins. Though I have scooped up a few silver world coins as the opportunity arises. I live in Missoula, Montana. Though I think we are moving to Billings in a few months. I am here to learn and ask questions! Thanks! Vaso

James here I'm from a small town Pana , Illinois I'm new to coin collecting and still have a lot to learn and hopefully this community is a little more hospitable and patient with me. All the groups I was talking to were just merciless and you always had two or three guys there that just got on there to debate and discourage new members from trying to educate themselves . Anyways thank you for having me and hope to make some new friends
