I was going to bid on it as well Richard but will not now for the exact same reason. I guess my view wasn't as far left as once thought ....lol.

For me it comes down to honesty and to cherry pick the lot after it's been photographed and listed is, in my opinion, wrong and to sanction such behavior is just as wrong.

I understand everyone's reasons not to bid on the auction. I just want to state for the record that I am a very honest person--especially on ebay. I have come across a lot of scam artists not only on ebay but outside. I understand the possibilities of changing coins but to speak the truth--That never crossed my mind nor do I plan on doing anything like that. It would be wrong and distrustful which is something I hate. All I can say is that what you see in the auction is what you get. I'm not some kind of sheep in a wolf's clothing. You can say I am a dumb blonde when it comes to coin collecting. I honestly know absolutely nothing about it. Again I understand everyone's views on this auction--but my intentions were nothing more than gathering all the coins I had in my possession and putting them on ebay.

With no value on it, I'd bet on that French isssue being a medal not a coin. I also can't find any comparable French coins on Numismaster.

As for the rest of the lot, if you want to maximize your profit, go to numismedia and find out if you have any key dates. If you have key dates, edit your sales info to express that and post some good pictures on ebay. That way you maximize your profit while maintaining your integrity.

snowman,

Thanks for the advise. I noticed in your profile that you collect coins with "fish" on them. I believe I may have 1 or 2 coins like that if you are interested.

Snowman, Here are the two fish coins I have:

These coins look MUCH better in person. My digital camera is terrible and it does no justice at all.

Thanks for the offer, but I already have both of those (several of the Bahamas dime). Besides, Forum rules state that you're 28 posts away from being able to sell anything.

icancu202, the easiest way to do it is as I already stated, get a RedBook from teh library (how far out of date it is doesn't matter), scan the RedBook for the coins you have. If the prices for any date/mintmark you have stand out compared to the others, you at least have a desirable coin (if not a semi-key date).

Scan any coins that stand out in the RedBook and add them to your auction description.

Good Luck

PS, the first sentence in this post was joke, don't take it the wrong way.
