I have a 1971 and 1972 Lincont cents, they look like steel. Does anyone know what or how?

Hi, if you could post some pics it would help. Without the pics I would say they are plated.

your coins are either soaked in mercury or chrome plated or painted. the US mint has not made a steal or silver colored coin for circulation sense 1943 except the alum from 74 that was never issued
