Right now I'm using halogen with florescent backlighting. Should I change anything? I heard that halogen brings out imperfetions that aren't there.

Shatsi,
LED (light Emitting Diode) Most of the red / green power indicator lights you see on electrical equipment are LEDs.
the white LED's used in flashlights emit a strong blue tint. I don't thing they would be good photography
lights.

codydude,
having several light sources can mess with your white balance (your color will be off) . The florescent and the halogen are different light temperatures, (don't forget to account for the room lighting also)
your camera may have difficulty with three different light sources.

I am having good results with Daylight florescent
