I voted "coin shops", but in truth the vast bulk of my collection came from bulk lots of coins bought at brick-and-mortar coin auctions. I said "came" (past tense), because I haven't bought any coins that way recently. I guess the novelty has worn off. Most of the coins I buy nowadays are from local coin shops and the annual coin show.

It's about equal between my local coin shops, ebay and a single coin show I went to (my first and only). I only voted coin show because I bought a lot of coins all at once there.

Places I buy my coins . 1. I have 4 banks I buy fed boxes from all time. I buy boxes in bulk and search them . Its cheaper becides buying from coin dealers. I pull the stuff out fed boxs that collectors want out of them. 2. If I turn an profit on stuff I will buy coins on ebay . The stuff I cant buy at face value is what I buy on ebay for my collection or finish resale sets to upgrade or add to my collection of coins. 3 My locol coin dealer I cant deal with him since his stuff is to overpriced big time. Example 1977 ike I need he wants 19.95 for dollar. On ebay you buy can complete 1977 mint set for like 7 to 8 bucks for ike. 4. I never been to coin show before. I dont know. 5. I try very hard to avoid dealers on ebay and buy from private colletors or non collectors all time. Its cheaper that way big time. Its cheaper to buy in bulk lots or sets to strip out key dates or semi keys. Chevrolet454ss

Ebay. I have 2 young kids and the only down time I get is after 8pm. Not many coin shops open at that time.

for me it is a toss up between ebay and other online sellers (shops) easier to compare prices; but for pricey items I prefer local shops (about 65 miles to closest one) so I can see it in hand before making a decision, did buy some from "hook" ad in Sunday newspaper magazine offering ASE's real cheap then bought a few hundred $ from the catalog they sent but over all they are too expensive.

Jim, ebay is the place. A few very important things to remember: Check the sellers FEEDBACK. Look for 100%, 99.9%. 99.8%. etc. I almost Never buy from sellers with lower than 99.6 feedback. and KNOW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING!!!! errrror

ebay ~ same as most... my local shop doesn't have much in what I am interested in... at a couple of shows... there is usually 1 twice a year in our area... but it seems that they are usually very high priced!

If this poll came out 2 yrs ago I would have said online dealers or shows, but the quality and diversity on ebay has improved so much I have to swing to the ebay vote.

Online dealers, ebay is right close behind. Not many local coins shops here either. And most don't carry much in the way of foreign stuff.
