Just wondering PMD or real thing it's so hard to tell.
There are no rough edges, as it would be if it was chiseled or filed. Just weird. Possible planchet error?

hello Northener0 looks also like some of the grooving is missing . try to get a picture of the edge of the dime it should be grooved all the way around . the members here will help you they know there stuff. if the grooves are missing get a picture for them have a great day

Interesting. IMO, not a clip, but either PMD or planchet error.

I'm not sure what it is but it looks like an electrical arc.

Fixguy, I think you may be right, looks like burned residue there.

rocky the grooving is all there it's just the pic.

Fixguy It is possible, except that I would expect to see at least one splatter or a bit more toning if it were a burn mark. Though it is posssible none the least. Also in hand it doesn't look burned.

Could it have been a lamination problem and the piece fell out after striking?

Wouldn't hurt to throw it in a flipper for later. In case others come up with a better idea.
