Electrum - I do agree that they did change the design, the torch does not go as high into the CANADA legend and is thus smaller in size and it looks a bit different. The Morse code around the perimeter is not as close to the rim as the original and looks different. I wish they kept to the original script. Same with coin #2 with Cinq. Hope the Beaver from 1967 is good. I really like the "square" 12 sided - nickel design
Silveroid - I agree the frosting looks flatter than the original sometimes. Less relief of the portrait.

SilverDon, Yes indeed, the closer to the coins original designs the more appealing...nice set regardless.

I think it would have been much better if they had done the same as they did with this 2005 commemorative silver nickel, which is much closer to the original. Besides the smaller "V" the font used for the lettering in the 2015 version is smaller and looks off too.

This 2005 commemorative was the best V style...indeed Canuck.

Quote: The "V" could have been a bit larger to the coin's proportion It could have been way larger. As it stands, it looks like it doesn't belong there.

No advance e-mail from the rep yet but the new catalogue came in the mail today. It says the new coins will be available on line tomorrow - though that is likely the MC release date.
Anyway, there are couple of really nice platinum coins - the Rain Trout and the Maple Leaf Forever. $2995 each. The trout should be a preview of next months silver coin design.
Oddly, the April ag Sportfish - the walleye - is not in the booklet.
added: just checking and now I'm not sure which fish will arrive in April. The original rep e-mail said the walleye in April and the trout in May. But on the mint website, it lists the trout and then the walleye. I guess it's kinda like fishing. You're never 100% sure what's coming in until it breaks the water.

So, the : 1 oz. Fine Silver Coin - Venetian Glass Turtle with Broadleaf Arrowhead Flower the most exotic and expensive 1oz RCM coin appeared today to the website, giving opportunity to the public to order it. But seems that appeared not for a long, and now it is "Awaiting stock".This is behavior was observed with the "Butterfly" coin - the "fastest sold-out ever". Might be dealers or CP? Just checked a few: CA, CC&C, Gatewest, The Coin Shoppe, Talisman - none of them have listed the coin yet. Probably they have to wait for official April release day. The ebay have variety of "Turtles" : expensive ($200+ and not far from issue). So, the customer with different budget can afford it (of cause not less than issue). The lowest prices set by the guests from Europe: Mr.Antonello from Italy and our friend from Germany. Both set it CAD 177 (one of them accepts Best Offer). Make your decision and do not miss this hot RCM piece.

Its very easy to have an item "Awaiting stock". Just release small amounts at a time, very common marketing ploy.Even the dealers are doing it now not just the RCM. Dont get sucked into the hype, these have too high of a mintage to retain much value over issue price if any long term.

I think this is their usual model to mint / release the coin by batches,

I bought one from CP to complete the series, with cash back and GCR rebates, I paid around 140 +.Now I'm pretty much done with RCM stupid coin mintage, before I buy from RCM it will have to be a very ,very, very special coin or something with a nice presentation box.

I don't think that the RCM is playing games with notices of sold out or awaiting stock. Note in the latest brochure that they have included an insert which states: "Sold out - it's not too late! Find RCM coins at authorized dealers or a Canada Post outlet near you." I have seen this message before on their web site. Cheers all, and thanks for all the posts. You contribute to my decisions when deciding whether to buy a coin or not.

What a complete load of bunk, still no sub mintage numbers , nothing there but the platinum coins that interest me , and they are over priced. Oh well maybe next month. The RCM is making it easy for me to save money.
