Thru my first $25 of The Cent Project, I ended up with

1982 Small Date = 4
1982 Large Date = 36

When doing the metal test, I'm getting ...

Large Date: 31 copper and 4 zinc.
Small Date: 2 copper and 2 zinc.

Does this ratio sound correct or should I ask someone else to help with the drop test?

Hi
unless I am confused here,(probably am) you should
not be getting any copper with the small date.
After saying that (whack whack)
Do you have a dig. scale ? You can get a cheap one
for less than ten bucks that will do the trick.
Easy way to distinquish between the two.
After using the scale for a while and getting bored
i plink em. It's fun. I use one of those big empty
cheap wine :) bottles. Make sure it's full before you start
your search laboring :) Then just chuck em at it. Tink = copper
Tunk = Zinc. Takes your mind off of your weary eyes and heightens
your sense of hearing (if you have any to begin with:)
if you need a scale email me for the info.
