SilverDon Pillar of the Community Canada 2361 Posts	Posted 03/15/2015 6:02 pm I got this a while ago, was scanning my coins with macro lens and saw this gash in the back of the Native rower. Should I return this coin? Could it be a flaw in the planchet, a clash, some sort of Mint damage or is it PMD. Thanks. Edited by SilverDon 03/15/2015 6:22 pm Report this Post to the Staff

doubleeagle59 Pillar of the Community Canada 2495 Posts	Posted 03/15/2015 8:32 pm What grade did they sell it? Actually I don't know why I asked this because the obverse is where 80% of the 'grade' comes from. I would only be upset if the coin was sold as an ms65. MS64 and lower wouldn't faze me one bit. wireman09 Pillar of the Community Canada 972 Posts	Posted 03/15/2015 8:34 pm It's just a bad bag mark hidden because it's on the native's back. No worse than the bag mark on the canoe. Not a bad dollar with nice lustre but unfortunately has a few heavy marks. Don't know what you paid for that dollar Don but it looks to be around MS62 from what I can see on the reverse. I have many 1954 dollars both raw and ICCS certified. If your interested PM me with the grade your interested in and I'm sure I could supply you with an example that you would be happy with. I'd have no problem parting with one for a fellow collector. Edited by wireman09 03/15/2015 8:45 pm Report this Post to the Staff
SilverDon Pillar of the Community Canada 2361 Posts	Posted 03/16/2015 05:50 am No scratches were noted in the original sale, I was not diligent in checking the coin when I got it (lesson learned). It was sold as EF/AU (only a $30 coin). Usually if there is a scratch mark or impairment then it is noted. Yes CA, I have a good relationship, hopefully they will replace. I was happy to note that the original invoice where it was not a blow out sale or any other kind of deal where a return would be difficult. I think when I got it I focused on the waterlines. Thanks for the comments. Will get on the phone/email tomorrow. Wireman09 thanks for that kind offer, I get a sense of fellowship from comments like that one. If I get no satisfaction, I'll send you a message. Report this Post to the Staff

AgCoinAu Pillar of the Community Canada 3049 Posts	Posted 03/16/2015 10:18 am I have heard nothing but good things of CA... but I don't know how much time has passed... That's sort of the big kicker... I mean at what point do you say that you're not willing to accept returns? You say you have a good relationship with them.. that's good that will probably help your case. As they will want to keep a good thing going as well. I say if you can .. return it.. or your eye will always go to that gash on the back and you won't be happy. Report this Post to the Staff
SHAFTA9a Bedrock of the Community Canada 10743 Posts	Posted 03/16/2015 3:49 pm ..It's a bag mark like the other one on the canoe. If it doesn't make you happy with it and, you notice it all of the time, return it. Report this Post to the Staff
