My rule is... before 1963, everything stays in OGP.. right now I have OGP sets from 1953 to 1963, Starting in the 80's I keep all SILVER proof sets in the OGP, everything else I crack out...

I say crack them if you are going to either put into an album or actually sell individually (not stock individually). If you are planning on keeping them, then if it were me I would keep them intact.

Interesting.....today I am TRYING to open these very sets so I can fill the holes in my Dansco albums. I have been putting this task off for YEARS obviously. Please share with me HOW DO YOU OPEN THESE? Argggg....can you feel my frustration? Please HELP me figure this out GR8~!!! I am afraid I am going to damage the coins. I even looked on Youtube to see if I could find a video on it with no luck.
My other thought was to leave them in there and check Daves collectible coins for the coins, but the Kennedys are $160 and the quarters are $65. I didn't even check the dimes. Not to mention all the recent proof sets I have to crack. Anybody have any advise?

I just twist the case, holding with both hands. Once I hear it crack, most times I can work my pen knife all around the seal.

As a collector who just started less than a year ago, I rather buy OGP sets if possible and pay a little premium because I can afford it now and I want it as close to new as possible... But then that's just me and I crack them open once I get them because they are permenently off the market and go in m albums.
If you are reselling not in a album, keep in OGP. If you planning to keep it and do not care for the extra premium for OGP hen you resell, crack it and enjoy it. You earned it.

I say keep them in OGP until you are ready to put them in album or sell them in a roll, then crack them out. You never know what you will do with them in the future. You can always crack them out at any time, but you can never put them back in the lenses, once out.

Crack em if you need them if not keep them as they are. Just what I would do.

I've also wondered many times if I should keep some of my coins under plastic or not. Most of my stuff is in albums or folders, but I do half some in Mint Sets or in slabs. Right now, almost every one of my albums or folders are complete; except for maybe one hole in each. Even though I know that I do have the missing coins, sometimes I hate seeing those holes!

I like to keep them as they came from the mint. I vote leave them in the OGP

Keep on cracking them. You're building equity for those who don't.

I'd keep them and find the other coins on ebay or something that you need. More these get cracked, more future profit we have?

In the last year, I cracked everything I have. I have not found OGP, worth that much of premium over me cracking and putting in airtights. I want my coins to stay BU.
Ya you might find OGP here and there worth a premium, but I think protected coins carry a better return in the long run.
