This coin was in a roll of pennies (it is the same size as a cent, as well). It seems commemorative of the Philadelphia mint but I am unsure. Can someone tell me about this coin? Thank you.

This looks like a mint token for Philadelphia; these are included in mint packaged uncirculated sets.

It is a medal, not a coin (it has no "face value").

As noted already, it was sealed in the Mint Set packages for several years as a way to identify sets struck in Philadelphia. It has a counterpart with a "D" on it that was included in sets struck in Denver.

They were included in sets from 1984 through 1999; roughly the period after the Susan B Anthony dollar was dropped and before the Sacagawea dollar was introduced.

They have essentially no value.

Hope that helps!

Pretty darn cool that you found it in a roll of cents. Love those types of finds.

Except for the part where someone paid a penny to own it in the roll.

Heck, it's worth a Cent anyway.

I don't have a close up ...

But here is a 1996 set.
The blue stripe cello are the Philadelphia coins.
The red stripe cello are Denver coins.

The medal like yours is in the bottom left of the cello.

I have around 30 of these mint tokens, most of them still in the cello.
