I think one reason is that my film shots are low resolution, compared to modern digital pics. No tethering or live view with film, so you have to focus using the viewfinder, and there's a good chance that the split image prism in the finder is blacked out when shooting macro, making focus more difficult. Also, there's no automatic white balance with film. When you use daylight film with lights, the resulting print is quite yellow/brown. This requires lots of color correction with Photoshop (after scanning), which leaves the image looking funny. I have to reduce the saturation at least 50% on most of these, leaving the end result half B&W and half color.
