Hey,
That would be a die crack. This happens because the coin die which struck the coin had a crack or small break in it that got transferred to the planchet during striking

Prices for error coins can be all over the place so it's hard to say what it is worth. Grade matters and you have a pretty nice looking coin there so I would expect you could find similar cents in the VF range and see what they sold for on the bay.

Also, the reverse matters too! See if it's a wide A M or a close A M in America. Or post a pic and we'll tell you.

Unless the die crack is rim to rim, there is little interest in these. Fun to find, but there are many out there.
