Quote: Looks like the 1oz Flanders Field coin is a real winner.
It certainly does look good!
I ordered one when they first became available - based on the video, I'm thinking I'm going to like it a lot when it arrives.
(I also ordered one of the Flanders Fields stamp sheets (without the frame) along with a first day cover from Canada Post. I think they'll make a nice show-and-tell at my next coin club meeting.

That would have made me even happier to own it!

Well, the RCM decided, same as with D-day con to go for other denomination. But speaking of SD, the 70-th Anniversary of WWII V-day close, it will be surprising, if we will not see nice commemorative Silver Dollar.
I suspect it will be like the Highway of Heros coin... a lot of people will buy it, who don't normally collect coins. I ordered one of these Flanders coins for my father in-law, whose family has a long Canadian military lineage...

There is an art and memorabilia, and aside the items that manufactured to make a money on it.
So, people who did buy the framed version of "In Flanders Fields" for themselves - they won by owning the desired item. From other hand, people who tried to make a money on top of it - need to reduce prices (according to ebay), cause the collectors probably happy with the $4+ cost stamps and not need the "limited edition frame" for $60+premium....

You could say the same thing about the 2012 pennies but all you would have is 50 pennies where as the last penny roll has the CoA/wrapper produced by the RCM.
Same as the framed pane, its has the gold cancel with CoA produced by CP , but unlike the 2012 pennies there are only 450 produced verse 20,000 of the penny rolls.
But hey frame up your reg panes lol, or roll your own 2012 pennies, they will be just that with no CoA etc.
although it produced to "make money on it" by RCM, it is still only $10 item. So except the 25c and Looney circulation packs - it was most affordable RCM item.
"In Flanders Fields" - looks like not enough to be issued 450 units to label it as $60 compares regular set for $4 only. This is similar to numismatic - not every extremely low production coin will have success among collectors.
Added: haven't you buy them for the kids / kid's teachers as a gift? Do not worry - they will be pleased without being bothered by "450" and "COA" (which are meaningless for them).
