People also do strange things to coins in the name of art, suck as making rings, decorative plaques, tourist knick-knacks and love tokens. And sometimes, bored people simply say things like, "I wonder what would happen to a quarter if I did this to it?" - and when they find out, they get bored with it and spend it.
