I was going through some of my 68 50 cent pieces and I noticed that a few (4 out of a hundred) had no A in AD MARE below the unicorn. Also half the E in USOUE isn't there.I know this is probably from die polishing, but does this make it a separate variety?the first picture is of a normal 68,2nd and third are same coin, forth is a different coin, 3 coins altogether. Thanks in advance.
Filled die and very very common. The nickel halves and dollars were very hard to strike up. Even when Gem Bu (if you can find one ) these coins are pretty ugly in my opinion. Especially when you look at the silver issues.
