I like the idea of passing them out at Halloween. Maybe you will get some kids into coin collecting!
Or you might get them thrown back at your porch; kids these days...
I was just thinking it was a good idea, but ouch.

The uncirculated NIFC Kennedy half is somewhat of a misnomer since they are available by the roll and small bag to dealers and collectors at a premium. These coins are offered in small quantity like this from the Mint primarily for dealers to stock for collectors who want just one or two but do not want to buy a complete mint set. They are out there in "circulation" but not in the same way as the other coins which are released en masse through the Federal Reserve. That is why no one will pay a premium for a circulated NIFC half when they can pay the same premium for one that is still uncirculated from a coin dealer.

When I find NIFC Kennedy halves, I place the best ones in my coin folders. Any that show no or little contact marks may end up in 2x2s. The others go off to my "fun money" collection to spend or use in poker games (older style bills, ATB Quarters, dateless Shield, Liberty and Buffalo nickels).

Gotcha. That makes sense Gyrene. Why pay for one with roll marks when you can get one with no marks for the same price? I laughed at the "put them on ebay stating I have no idea what they are" ;D but that sounds like some of the younger kids today.

I just spend the halves. Some believe it or not have never seen one in the 'wild'. Good for tips.

This spring a 5th to 6th grade age girl came in my mom's store and asked if she'd accept "big quarters" which my mom figured out were half dollars.

Haha I like that... "Big quarters" That is pretty funny. :) Yeah I deposited them all and my wife has a jar she uses some for garage saling. Back into the wild they go!

Well, if the story goes that roll hunters on ebay believe they will get rich, sell them as a roll on ebay. If one of those hunters might pay a small premium for them?

Oh, oops - sorry, just saw your last post! Probably best to save the fees, et cetera.
