This is one of the coins that was in the same box as the 1909 VDB. It was in a flip. Again, I'm a newbie here. Is that what caused the strange tone? As you can see, it has a distinct overall gold tone on the back.

Looks like some wear on the check bone area and some scratches on the reverse. I will say AU50

Is there anyway this off coloring could have been caused by the plastic that it was stored in? I know several folks commented about PVC and flips on another one of my posts, and that's kind of what it was stored in. Actually it was stored in a couple sheets of hard plastic surrounding a cardboard single sheet with a hole in the center and covered with a flip.

What do you guys think?

I would buy it if I saw it, I love toners. We're talking about a $2-3 coin here. You guys would really be so picky over small potatoes?
