Pretty crazy. I have a slight feeling he knows it's a fake. Yet again, you never actually know.

The over all look and details. Lol. It is hard to explain. I sent the seller a message telling him/her to remove the listing and to inform them it is fake.

If you look at the sellers Sold items, it shows the seller sold this cent on June 13, 2015 for $504. I am assuming the buyer returned it.

The seller apparently bought it 5 years ago off of ebay.

Yeah, because I'd be selling a real S-VDB and take the kind of crap pics we see on that auction. I really think blurry or bad photos should be reason enough to block these listings. Sadly, someone will think they got a good deal on this if ebay (or the seller) doesn't yank it.

The two things that stand out to me are 1) the second 9 doeesn't look like a nine, and 2) the B in VDB seems to lack the characteristic downward-slanting crossbar. In any event, the pictures are so poor that you can hardly be sure of anything.

It's "up there with 1 of the worst fakes you've ever seen," but you can't explain why? Sounds a bit reckless to me.

I know the pics are terrible, but I see no evidence that the mint mark is wrong.

As for the B, I can't tell either way but my eyes are not the greatest.

I agree with Bobby; I've looked at it a few times and can't find anything that looked suspicious.

I've been to coin shows where a dealer may have 3, 4, or more 1909s-VDBs to sell. They aren't as rare as some people think, just held for a long time.

I'm not saying it's real but I'm not seeing any evidence it's a fake. You need to display a higher level of academic rigor, Drew. This is becoming a litany for us, and it's not cool.

PS: I'm not saying that it is definitely not a fake (it could be), just that I've seen many fall worse. Also, as far as mint marks, I heard that they were still being done manually back then, and I'm sure that an employee made several 'boo-boos' a day. I've seen mint marks up, down, left, right, cockeyed, and of course centered where they should be.

Not necessarily the position, but the shape. The seller said they were taking it to a reliable coin dealer to get it authenticated. They seem to be pretty honest.

Well the camera obviously moved during the shot, the entire image has motion blur so everything will appear wider.
