sold for more or less issue (~ CAD 100)

wait a little bit, and uncle Scrooge McDuck will follow rest of it's silver company on the way down.
Probably Mickey (Willy) will stay on the issue for a while.

@silveroid

agree 100% with what you said. I noticed the first mickey gold and silver have dropped in price somewhat but still above their initial release.

I have to admit, I REALLY like the Scrooge McDuck coin lol

I've been holding off on the Scrooge coin too, but it gets harder every day.

Inner conflict: I can buy it from a dealer for around $100CDN incl. shipping, which is about $15 lower than that latest sale on ebay in US dollars. Even if it drops to $80CDN on ebay there will be shipping costs, so not much difference. I can't see this one dropping 40%, but then it could happen.

The longer I hold off, the worse the shaking gets.

Is there a 1-800 Help Line for coin addicts? lol

Wait a few years of having your coins you buy drop in value and all that will go away.

This is always the "conflict".
I will add more: do you want your coin absolutely "new" for CAD 100, or already owned, with possible small imperfections in packaging, half-opened capsule , etc...but for CAD 70?
You have to decide.
If the coin is special and projected to be rare - better buy now. In case if it just the coin, that you want - probably wait.

Good point, Silveroid. Definitely worth considering.

Bought the coin. The shaking has stopped.

Great, congrats for a new coin.

But again, do not forget about "waiting tactics". Some members here have a patience and score great coins from a dealer with discount, after year or two...

Btw, my Willie (first in series), for sale.
(have now idea, why I've bought duplicate).
Mint condition.
CAD 90 only.....

Yes, patience is a virtue. Unfortunately, my itchy trigger finger doesn't listen when I see a coin that I REALLY like. It must hit the "buy" buttton.

As Northerncoins says... a few more years and I might get cured.

I bought Steamboat Willie before the prices went up, so Scrooge will have some company. I believe Daisy and Donald will drop more in price. Just won Donald on ebay for $75 (incl. shipping), so will wait for a deal on Daisy, too.

I just checked ebay sales on Steamboat Willie. It's doing very well, well above the issue price. I'm considering your offer of $90.hmmmm.

I initially bought 2, for myself and "for the kid". Together with this, I understand, that our kids do not need the stuff, that we are collect, they will have their own collection.
So I do not need it. Of cause it will go via ebay, but always first worth check here. And....do not buy, just because it "price reduced".

Yea its hard to say... I agree its a tussle in the mind, coins are to a degree impulse buys.... this is a classic situation.

What I did is I looked back at steamboat willie gold and 1/4 oz gold coin past auctions to knock off the impulse with the most recent.

You have a wide range of prices on the gold piece for 1/4 oz going for 700 all the way I think I just say almost 1,200. I think that was 658 at issue.

the silver coin, I dunno looks to be flat to slightly higher from its initial release. It was like 95 at release, looking at auctions we seem to be slightly higher, it does look like the premium has come down quite a bit, I believe these were higher when they sold out.

Again my trepidation is that we are in never never land right now with the PM market and I just cant get over the fact that prices are going lower... and I just to me, that helps numb my impulse on these.

.... and believe me my friends, I realllly like the Scrooge McDuck ones, if I wasnt disciplined and patient I would have ordered with one fell swoop the two gold ones and silver right at release date. I think the trader in my is overtaking my impulse collector side and is putting a collar on me

Ahhhh.so, as a trader you definitely need to get the Scrooge coins, yup7676. I hope you get them for a good price later.

I wish I had the nerve to trade in these rigged markets, but am sticking to tangible assets.

If they can make it legal to steal money from our bank accounts via bail-ins (U.S. in 2010, Canada in 2013), then I feel better holding commemorative coins at even half their value. At least it's something of value in my possession that I can enjoy. Too many people lost everything in the 2007/08 crash.

I believe they'll pummel gold and silver one last time to shake everyone out, and then pick up the only real store of value at dirt cheap prices, as they have done before.

Then I see a reverse to the upside, once they've positioned themselves. Just my opinion, of course.

i gotta say, I bought the two old ones in gold and silver, (Steamboat willie and donald), and all of the more modern ones in silver except the princesses, (gold one made it too pricey for me) and I don't regret it at all... I love the look they have, and their packaging is so much better than RCM. I think that if you buy for yourself and not for resale, it doesn't hurt as bad to know that they aren't worth as much... 'cause you still like the look of it. I am definitely going to buy the scroodge, just waiting until the coin is actually released... I don't like the idea of pre-sale where you pay and don't get anything for a while.

Donald Duck 80th Anniversary for $75CDN on ebay was just luck for me, I think. Prices have been varied lately, but here's a recent active listing for $85CDN plus shipping:

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Disney-80th-...em25ab31469f

The Disney "Mickey and Friends" series seems to be holding up better (in CDN $), based on recent ebay sales.

I'm looking at my personal set right now, and am really enjoying them.
