I'm leaning towards VF30 details. For a 10 cent, looks like the braid has the detail to hit VF30

Thanks guys for your efforts.

So the details part refers to the fact that it has
scratches and dents. Correct?

I got the Charlton Coin Catalogue from the library
but I don't see a VF30 grading, only VF20.

The coin actually has a story behind it.
About 35 years ago when I worked for a water utility company
we had just finished back filling a hydrant replacement
when I noticed this shiny object in the snow and dirt.
I thought naturally that it was a new 10c piece and was really
surprised when I saw the Queen Victoria head.
The fact that the silver was so shiny still and not black as one would
expect from being in the ground for years made me think that
perhaps it was in some sort of container or cover which fell off during excavation.
The nicks and dents were probably caused also during the excavation
since I remember they were fresh when I found it.
I only washed off the mud no other cleaning.

cool story, wish I could find one of these on the ground! If it grades VF30 then find the price point in between VF20 and EF40 and you should be in around there, maybe a bit closer to EF40 than VF20. Unfortunately the details and damage to your coin greatly affect the value.
