Just purchased my 2nd and 3rd Morgan today, first was a gift. I'm not well versed on the series, but the price seemed ok to me, and this is now the oldest coin in my collection. I will be posting the other coin for grade as well, and I appreciate your help as I learn about grading coins.

This coin is showing wear in the hair above the ear. The cotton balls are worn on the obverse. On the reverse the details of the breast feathers are worn and not present, and the leg feathers are also showing wear. The coin still has some luster remaining. The circulation rub on the cheek and fields is typical for a low end AU.

Makes me wonder if it was a book piece for quite some time.

Interesting that the grade has gone down with each post, please no more grades! Just kidding, I bought it as a VF, so we are getting closer to my best guess. I paid $22 for it, I thought it wasn't a steal, but probably not a bad price. Keep the grades coming, because I like to document as accurately as possible for future generations that might inherit my collection.

I'd be at XF45,too, certainly nowhere near so worn that it slips down into the VF range. That bit of rainbow toning is a plus.
