I don't think that it's a "circulated" reproduction. It's hot off a stamping mill somewhere. No even semi-serious collector would touch something like that.

I'd be happy to have one in my collection as a medallion. I certainly wouldn't pay more than 50p, though.

the 'real' one(s) have monument/date OR text/ship so it's an intentional mix of 2 dies (which is what I find questionable).

clearly stated as a repro in the title/description so obviously this seller (who I've bought from before) isn't trying to fool anyone. but others might not be so honest.

semi-serious collectors might not ever touch this but is that who we are worried about? just think pieces like this are pushing the limits.

Charlton make reference to this item on page 181 under UC-5 Note # 1 where they state "A modern mule of Obverse UC-6 and reverse UC-5 exists, struck by the Pobjoy Mint, naturally all are in mint condition"

I do not have a problem with this listing. And it does look like it was minted yesterday

Seems like it should carry the word "copy" as these designs were used before on period pieces.

I think ever token collector has or had one
of these. I would hope nobody would sell
this as a genuine period piece .

a (former) ccf member reached out to me via ebay with a little history lesson on these pieces:

Quote:
These were made 30 years ago by a coin dealer (The maker's name was Joe Fougiere) in Niagara On The Lake. Sold as souvenirs with a full printed explanation they were never intended to fool anyone. 9000 are reputed to have been made.

sold with "a full printed explanation" is one thing, but without all that I'm still behind the notion that this is close to the line (leaning towards over the line) of what is acceptable.
