I have seen a 1948 JOP in a complete collection that Kosta Bakalos (Bluenose Coins & Precious Metals, of Penticton, British Columbia) had assembled, ICCS certified, and displayed in an Edmonton Numismatic Society coin show. It was before I moved to Ottawa, so at least before 2008. Of course, no cherry picking was allowed - you had to buy the entire set!!

I think there is a place for this in numismatics, as the prices realized from the counterstamp collection of Geoffrey Bell sold at the last Coin Expo auction would attest. However, CV, if you are collecting counterstamped dollars, then you need to make room for the 1970 GAN nickel dollar counterstamp in your collection!

nahh that would be considered reproduction or counterfeit!!

edit: I'm sorry I hijacked this thread and took it for a sideways turn... but... beer WAS mentioned... and that is just about my favourite topic...

Enough beers and your VG coins will have mint lustre once again!
