It's cheapest if you do 5 at once, Best way is to get the $150 membership. The entire fee can be used for grading fees. You will have to pay for things like return shipping separately.

But it's not NGC. There is a reason that the coin guy on HSN uses ANACS. And it's not because the market in general accepts ANACS as superior. He gets more 70's than he would with NGC or PCGS. He capitalizes on the ignorance of HSN shoppers to make more money. I'm not saying that he's being unethical. It's just the buyer's responsibility to know what they're purchasing. If I remember correctly, don't NGC and PCGS require that coins in holders other than PCGS and NGC to be broken out before being sent in?

Quote: ...If I remember correctly, don't NGC and PCGS require that coins in holders other than PCGS and NGC to be broken out before being sent in? NGC only accepts PCGS coins for crossover, all others must be cracked out. PCGS accepts crossovers from all major TPG services (NGC, ANACS, ICG, even PCI I think).

Quote: Are they struck in, or will they rinse off? Milk spots are normally on the planchet prior to striking. They arise from a rinsing operation at the mint and are usually permanent.

Quote: I have never sent anything in to be graded is there a how to on this site for these coins if I choose to go that route? Thanks! If you are not a member of ANA or NGC's coin collector's club, join one of them which allows you to submit coins directly to them. I joined ANA a few weeks ago which gave me free admission to the World's Fair of Money. For the Eisenhower C&C series, you don't have to submit a minimum of 5 coins for the less expensive grading. It's $15 per coin ($30/set assuming you're also grading the medal). However, if you want them to put the special "early release" label they're making for the set, it's an extra $5 per coin. There's also an $8 handling charge per order (probably to pay for the return box), then there's the issue of shipping back and forth. You can either have them ship it back USPS, or you can designate a carrier and give them your account number you use for that carrier if you want UPS or Fedex. Here's a breakdown of what it will cost if you for example submit two sets. Assuming you submit all of the coins and want the special label, it's $20/coin x 4 coins =$80. Then there's the handling fee of $8 to make it $88. From my calculations, you can ship via USPS Priority Mail to NGC for as little as $5 with no insurance, or around $20 with insurance (assuming you declare $500 as how much it'd cost to get 2 more on ebay). Assuming you have them ship the 4 coins back via USPS for the same insured value, they would charge $24. Or you can give them a Fedex/UPS account number and have them ship using them if they give you a better rate, but you'll have to research that. Overall, you're looking to pay around $130 to grade two sets give or take if you submit them yourself if you insure both ways. One set would be around $85-$90 (-$40 for 2 less coins, and the shipping costs come down a few dollars). *The numbers I gave also do not include the cost of membership to ANA or NGC's coin collectors club.

Quote: I would like to know if the dealers overcharge people to send a coin in I would worry more about them choosing which coins are yours when they are returned. I bet any 70's are theirs Quote: That may actually be a real bargain. From what I've seen on mine and others that have been posted, 70s will be pretty uncommon. If it were NGC, I'd give it serious consideration. Not NGC and definitely not a bargain I was also going to comment on NGC costs and procedure but MrPapageorgio did a decent job of that... ...$20 not $30 ...Modern Special (includes ER and Pres label)not Early Bird ...No minimum number ...note Coin & Chronicles Pres label on form (default but safer to remind them) Also reviewed previously (8/14) on page 43 of this thread
