I have purchased this 1770 halfpenny this past weekend, and I am wondering whether it is authentic or not. It weighs 9.57 grams. Any input is greatly appreciated.

It looks authentic. The weight will be off with all the corrosion. It was a high grade when it went into the soil.

Thank you for the response, do you know what the value might be? I bought it for $5 which led me to think something might be wrong.

UK Coins in this condition are considered non-collectible. $5 is pretty good from an historical perspective.
