ANACS. I agree with their opinion more often, and you can often get an ANACS coin discounted by a dealer.

When considering to send coins in for grading, all three companies are professional and do their best to grade as accurately as possible. As for grading my own coins, I prefer ANACS as they are the oldest coin grading service in the US and they are affordable. If you have a coin valued at $50 or less, it is not worth it to pay more than 20% of the coins value to have it graded. Therefore if you send in a coin worth $30, after you pay the grading fee and the membership fee, you are SOL. That is why you should give serious consideration to where to send your coins for grading.

If I cared about certfied coins... it would be NGC. Since joing CCF I've heard far to many horror stories about PCGS customer service & blatent errors on documentation (not to mention returning coins to the wrong person).

I have not tried PCGS, but I will say I am impressed with the customer service of NGC so far. They charged me S&H when I asked that they send my Eisenhower sets back through UPS. After sending them an email last night, someone from the accounting department contacted me this morning; explaining that they put the charge through before I sent the shipping waiver back and didn't reverse it. So they offered to refund my credit card the $27 or just put a credit on my account. Since I'll be sending in the liberty coins (and likely the Kennedys assuming I get them), I said the credit was fine.

For the Morgans and Peace dollars I keep I prefer the old white ANACS holder. Modern Chinese Pandas I go with PCGS. I do still have the occasional NGC holder.

I voted for NGC because I like the coin holder the best when buying but I'll buy a coin in a PCGS slab if it's better than the same coins available in NGC holders in the same grade.

To the people that say they don't buy slabbed coins. Buy the coin not the slab. If you really want a coin, nothing is stopping you, the slab can be cracked.

I have a slight preference for PCGS over NGC. I also like the older small ANACS holders.

A lot of the coins I've bought in the last few years have been world coins, and about 75% seem to be slabbed NGC and the others are PCGS. That I have bought several coins at Heritage which does lot of business with NGC is likely skewing things. For the occasional US coin, there seems to be a pretty even split with NGC, PCGS, and ANACS. ANACS was the last, being a IHC variety. I appreciate the variety attribution at ANACS, not crazy about their holders in general. If I were to send in coins myself, I think I'd go with NGC as I do like the design of their slabs personally.

I voted PCGS because of the airtight slabs and the new "True View" quality secure images.

While the new True View Secure Slab is much better, I still don't think it's airtight, PCGS qoute from their website on them:

Quote:

Proprietary polymer formula with embedded PCGS identifiers: Made from a new blend of crystal-clear, scratch-resistant plastic that's tested to be 99.99% chemically-inert. The chemical formula contains PCGS-specific additives that can be detected using a special handheld device. These sturdier, tamper-evident holders have no edge seam, are virtually airtight and will provide even more protection against potential environmental damage to coins.

Virtually is better than none, but not 100% IMO.

None. My preference is raw. I have bought coins in all kinds of slabs, but I can't wait to crack them out.
