A good load of good old Deutschemarks came along today in a fresh batch delivered to today's market. It's always great being there first to have a look

X2an nice pickups. Do you keep track of what you have so you don't get duplicates or are you Ok getting duplicates? What makes you pick out the coins you find? I am just starting into WW coins.

I generally have a list of what I have fresh in my mind, but it certainly happens that I wonder whether or not I have that particular coin. I am generally happy to get duplicates if not for trades, but there are the occasions where there's not just a duplicate, but rather a triplicate, and so on. Some coins are just too abundant and worthless, many of which being pre-euro coins and Turkish coins to wrap around my experience in Europe. I like to have atleast one type coin from every country before I start throwing them out (figuratively!). Value is tricky since there's just so many types everywhere.

A good place to start if you've got no or just a few world coins is to buy a 'starting lot' of a few kilogrammes from ebay or wherever. Usually there's mostly common coins in there but if you're starting out, there's a whole lot to learn. The coins get very cheap per piece.

The world is a big place, it's an extremely wide collection range!

I have to say that the concept of 'world coins' is so subjective it's almost ridiculous! Remember that for me, living in Sweden and mostly dealing with Swedish coins, US & Canadian coins are world coins here

Why did I buy so many 1 Pfennig coins? Why would I not? Who in their right mind would not feel good with a bag of coins albeit almost worthless in their hands?

The real reason is that I'm going to Berlin, and as all Deutschemarks are still redeemable and I already have some to exchange, I thought I could get some more to exchange. Or they'll call security and throw me out, whichever is easiest.

I'm also happy to get the Macedonian coins, apparently they just released polymer notes for these denominations.

I enjoy reading this thread. It Always has great pictures. Can you explain what the market is like? I'm familar with a flea market with many sellers, a coin shop and a coin show, but market has my interest up. Thanks.

Today was a HOT day. Life here just isn't made for temperatures around 30'C! Today was still a beautiful day, so plenty of people showed up. Coins lying in the sun were BLAZING HOT. You cannot physically hold them without feeling your hands burn. Nonetheless, I managed to extinguish a few today and bring them home.

It's pretty much a flea market but with older stuff. Less 'clearing the attic'-type of stuff and more 'selling off inherited items'. Plenty of old pots, records, cutlery, China and books but also stamps, coins and other memorabilia. Plenty of tables on a cobblestone square in central city

I really like all the different shapes, designs, and styles of your finds and enjoy looking here each week for that reason. Nice finds!

Nothing new today as I was out of town for this weekend. Don't worry, I brought a load home after my trip but nothing in relation to the sunday market, so nothing will be shown here today sadly. Next week should be clear
