Your posts are one of my favourites.I like world coins. Not that I want sets but I'd like to at least have one coin from each country. Your postings give me some knowledge on what to look for and the ID when I come across coins in 2nd hand and antique stores.

Quite honestly I know nothing about the rarity of 1832-1833 Skilling coins, I just picked it up because I like the design. Numista (the world coin catalog reference I use) actually didn't have a picture of it, but now they do thanks to me ! I'm thinking about getting it appraised tomorrow. Anyway, today didn't have the usual coin sellers, but I found a seller who brought with him some new coins. Today's finds were these: (2x) 1000 Dong, Vietnam 2003 From a country that doesn't use coins commonly come these two coins in identical condition: lustrous and uncirculated (no obvious scratches, nothing). I managed to bargain the price down from 10 SEK down to 5. They fill a hole in my 'unusual' country collection!

I'm going to join in on this thread too. I got these this past Sunday at the monthly flea market for $2.50 US total. The GB farthings are decent condition as is the NZ 3d, but once I got home and looked it up, the Cuba 10 centavos was the winner.

What I always look for on these markets are silver. I really like that NZ 3d, New Zealand coins are unusual for me! The weather's been pretty stable lately, a few degrees above zero and no clounds int he sky. Today's market was filled with people, I wasn't the only one whop decided today was a good day to go do something outside. I ended up at one seller who had put up a plastic tool box filled with coins. He was aware that there were some good finds to be found in it, apparently a friend of his found a mexican gold coin in that very box. Heads up, I didn't find any gold, but some silvers. 35 coins total, 2 SEK each = 70 SEK total. I actually decided to limit the amount of coins bought, I certainly hope he returns with that tool box next week. The loot! 1 Butut, The Gambia 1971 5 Bututs, The Gambia 1971 10 Bututs, The Gambia 1971 50 Bututs, The Gambia 1971 20 Centavos, Uruguay 1942 6 Pence, UK 1937 & 1944 2.5 Escudos, Portugal 1946 5 Escudos, Portugal 1933 20 Centavos, Portugal 1925 5 Dirhams, Qatar 1973 10 Dirhams, Qatar 1973 50 Dirhams, Qatar 1973 20 Pfennig, Transport token from "Hochbahn", Hamburg 10 Centimes, Belgium 1939 25 Centimes, France 1928 50 Yen, Japan Taisho 32 50 Rentenpfennig, Germany 1924-A 10 Yuan, Taiwan 50 Cents, Australia 1978 200 Forint, Hungary 2009 500 Pesetas, Spain 1989 5 Kroner, Norway 1999 5 Kroner, Denmark 1998 (2x) 50 Pence, UK 1997 2 Øre, Norway 1919 10 Haleru, Cechy a Moravia (Bohemia and Moravia, Nazi Germany puppet state) 1944 3 Mark, Germany 1922-A 50 Penniä, Finland 1943 1 Pfennig, Germany 1917-A 5 Baisa, Oman 1970 1 Sent, Estonia 1929 1 Dinar, Iran 1976 2 Rappen, Switzerland 1974 Looking forward to next week!

That's a good way to spend 70 SEK (or about $8.5 USD).
Nice selection. I recently received the same Uruguay coin in a bulk buy from an antique shop for basically $0.15 USD. It's a very nice design.
You're lucky that your market is every week as mine is once a month.

Every coin cost 2 SEK each, so 40 SEK total for today. If these good markets days keep up I'll be broke soon
