Quote: I was out traveling this weekend so I didn't have time to make it to the market, but I did get my last two week's on camera. Nice to catch up!

Well yes, I am certainly still going. Unfortunately, last could of weeks have been absolutelyrubbish in terms of finds. While weather certainly hasn't helped, there's been very little new stuff popping up so I decided to remain silent as not to essentially spam this thread with posts of me not finding anything. Happy there's the regular browser! So, for once in a quite long while, I did find a few pieces to bring home with me. 10 Pence, UK 1992 20 Pence, UK 1996, 1997 & 2015 1 Peso, Chile 2005 20 Filler, Hungary 1972 & 1973 10 Haleru, Czechoslovakia 1966 10 Euro Cents, Italy 2002 2 Mark, Germany 1951-J 10 Hryven, 2015 10 Markkaa, Finland 1986 A fine lot for 35. Particularly the 2 Mark coin is an interesting one in there - many Germans collectors would be surprised about its low cost, they are quite rare after all

Merry Christmas to everyone! Last Sunday's adventures were more exciting than most things for quite some while. Here are what came from that day! Various scrap-of-the-day, including 216x1kr and 20x5kr Can banknotes be considered scrap? China, 1 Yuan banknote and coin: 2016. Mix-of-the-day. 1 Öre, Sweden 1916, 1926 & 1929 10 Öre, Sweden 1940 50 Öre, Sweden 1976 1 Krona, Sweden 1968 (x6; first two silver), 1976 & 1986 (x2) 5 Kronor, 1986 50 Øre, Denmark 1990 (x2) & 1995 1 Krone, Denmark 1992 10 Kroner, Denmark 1989 5 Pfennig, Germany 1977-J 10 Pfennig, Germany 1981-D 5 Mark, Germany 1991-J 10 Kroner, Norway 1984 1 Kroon, Estonia 2001 1 Schilling, Austria 1996 5 Schilling, Austria 1978 10 Schilling, Austria 1989 (x2) & 1997 €1.64 in 1-20c from Austria, France, Germany, Portugal, Spain and a single 20c from Luxembourg. USD $8.44 4.95 Guatemalan Quetzales 14.30 Mexican Pesos 1200 Hungarian Forint And lastly, an almost complete Nicaraguan Cordoba type set! I only had a single Nicaraguan coin before this, so I'd say that's quite a nice early Christmas present! All this for just 103 kr. Quite the haul, I'd say. Merry Christmas everybody!

X2an, You did well with that rare 2 DM coin! & I am impressed with your latest haul! I especially enjoy your coins from Nicaragua! Like NumisRob said, same...hardly see them anywhere. By the way, did you ever hear from the Volkswagen regarding your gold medal? Lastly, wishing you and yours a very blessed and joyful Christmas! Also, the best wishes for a prosperous and healthy New Year! Warm regards!

Unfortunately last Sunday of the year yielded nothing. Perhaps a result of last week's great bunch? Quote: By the way, did you ever hear from the Volkswagen regarding your gold medal? Unfortunately, nothing came of that. I did contact two different places but didn't get any response. I still have the piece, so whatever mystery lies within it can still be revealed Agreed, Nicaraguan coins are notably rare. I'm personally impressed I hadn't come across any more prior ot this. Still quite the load, so I'm all happy about it

Quote: Agreed, Nicaraguan coins are notably rare. It is interesting how world coins travel around the world. I suspect that it has a lot to do with travel and immigration patterns. Here in Canada, Nicaraguan coins are not rare in coin junk boxes. While not common, they are usually only worth a quick glance to see if it is something older. They are probably even more common in the southern part of the United States.

I occasionally go through the world coin bin at my local LCS, and also wonder how some of the coins arrived there. I am in Ohio, and I commonly see coins from Mexico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, but I also have never seen a Nicaragua coin there. Tons of Greece and Turkey, though. Always a few from Sweden, too
