Welcome Dirt Detector. I would be a bit careful about saving so many if you are hoping for a big bump in value. I suspect that there will be a lot of these produced and the record for this sort of stuff going up in value significantly is not good. Unless money is no object, you might want to trim your souvenir run to a smaller number and perhaps pedal a few quickly on ebay if you can find someone who will pay a modest premium.

How many commemorative have the BoC put out? Two ? Maybe three? I applaud the BoC for doing this and love the subtle change that was made. I think we'll get a really special treat in 2017.... But this is nice. If I had the funds I would brick not only looking for solids, repeaters, radars and ladders but a really cool find would be a matching serial between the two types of notes

I'll be getting one or two for my collection but that's about as much as I am going to buy. Coins are a smarter investment imo.

Where did you get these from Dirt Detector? If it's from the bank, I might try tomorrow and see if the branch near me has them.

My friendly family financial employee says that Scotiabank is often the first bank to get new currency in... I know I'll be trying there tomorrow.

Only 40 million have been printed. Original plan of 80 million. I got these at a major TD bank in my area.

40 million? Be careful. I don't know how many paper money collectors there are in Canada, but I would guess 10,000 to 25,000 serious collectors. Sounds like there will be lots to go around. Repeaters etc. are always worth saving.

I have always had a lot of success with RBC for getting new/first issue notes.

I`ll get one. Almost fifty years ago I got thirty 1867-1967 notes, only twelve million issued, sure to increase in value, right?

The big problem with commemorative issues is that even non-collectors will pick up and hold on to these. But this note definitely tells a story...
Start with 1935 $20.. And she's been on every $20 issue with the exception of the '37 series.
I think there will be a bunch of people that hold on to this note for many years.. as such this one probably won't gain much in value.. and will probably lose more in buying power and inflation... however I think it will almost be essential to have if you collect notes... as I said I think it tells a very good story!

I think I'll have to take an inflation/buying power hit on this one and hold on to a nice fresh one.

10,000 to 25,000 serious collectors in Canada. Not at all. Canada has a population of 38 million and very few mostly old timers are serious collectors more like the 2,500-5,000 range.

DD you are likely right. I was trying to make a generous guess. My point really was to collect them if you want to for the happiness of having it in the collection.
