I was curious about the scratch on my RP's, so I took some pics with the microscope objective. Not much depth of field, but I was able to determine that the scratch is raised on the coin, so is a scratch on the die. Also, it disappears as it goes over the high points of the upper and lower lip. These would be the lowest points on the die. I am curious how many, or if all, have this scratch.

GymcoachDon- are you sure that's not a crack in the capsule? It's odd that it would go through the lips without distorting or changing direction.

The picture was taken with the coin out of the capsule, and it appears on both of my coins.

My two sets arrived today and both dollar coins exhibit the same zipped lip die scratch as gymcoachdon described... Way to go, US Mint Quality Control Department!

Yup. Mine has that same line as well. It definitely looks raised on the coin (a scratch on the die) under my 10x loupe.

Zip lip. Maybe it will end up being a hot variety and only three of us will have them.

Mine are out for delivery today, so I can post pics later tonight. Remains to be seen if they are this "zip line" error.
On a side note, the 2014 Franklin D. Roosevelt Coin and Chronicles set is unavailable at the Mint. Not sure when this occurred or if its been reported here yet, but I thought I'd mention it.
