Looks genuine to me, but with a bit of skill and practice, it is possible to reproduce the Blakesley effect in a back yard 'shed job'.
I have to admit: I can't pick the excellent fakes of this type, even when examining the coin in hand.

I have seen a few so called genuine clip errors of this type, and examined them carefully under a 10x loupe with the consideration they they could be fake. I came to the conclusion that I could not completely rule out the possibility that they could be fake.

To me this appears to be a small clip, and if I were attempting to "fake it" I'd probably try my hand at a bigger clip....which lends me to believe this is in fact genuine, showing the expected wear of the poor thing being in 50 years of circulation with no one caring until one day last week at my grocer it decided to enter my hand and say......"shouldn't I be noticed too?" haha......glad the coin has had its 15 minutes of fame with all of this wonderful Forum's honorable opinions and mentions. The coin says "Thank You!" as do I. :)
