Well I wouldn't mind it if it was my turn to find one next. Mind you, it would be my second find. I found one quite early in my noodling career about six months ago. But nothing since These coins are hard to come by. I expect that they will become even harder to find as more and more collectors learn of their scarcity. Does anyone know when and who discovered the variety. I haven't been an active collector for many years so I have not kept abreast of all the news. I expect something may have been written in one of the coin magazines when they were discovered and I'm keen to get a copy of the article if one exists.

The finder is a member who is non-active presently, madbudgie0, I believe he reported it early - mid 2006. An article was published in CAB about the find at that time.

justa...those are the same 2 coins I'm yet to find also, and I don't plan on holding my breath till I find either of them. I do have 1 of each, but they were gifts.

When you're old enough, you might be able to go to one of the Casino's and get lots of $1 to noodle for mules, if there're any Casinos left still using $1 by then. A fair few Aussies do that & have found high numbers of them, but I believe their results are not quite so fruitful lately.

By the way, I've put a package in the mail for you today.

I have a mate that does the poker machines once in a while. Never found a mule but sometimes gets a nice coin or two.

What's the advantage of the casino/pokies over getting coins from the bank?

Learjet, Y'know, I've never thought to ask that question, but I'm glad you did.

Maybe because the coins have been in the pokies & not out in 'circulation' therefore they're in better condition. Otherwise I really don't know.

Some members of another forum we frequent go to the Casinos & they do very well with finding mules. I'm sure you now who it is I mean. One posts here occcasionally.

I feel funny going to the pokies, not playing and taking lots of dollars. My friend doesn't care but I don't feel comfortable with it. I've had some "looks" from the players as if to ask what are you doing?

Learjet,
I put up with those looks for quite a while. I found 3 mules from clubs. I used to ask the person behind the counter if I could have a $200 bucket of coins. Never any problems doing that. The strange looks came when I went back for another $200. They generally asked, "What's wrong with that $200?" I've looked at those", says I. "And?", says he or she. Never mind.

What did get amusing was when the wife and kids used to get up and leave the table when I sat down with a bucket of coins and a loupe. Even they think I'm strange

At a casino, everyone is strange . They also have a lot more coins to look at.

Got myself a 2008 20c yesterday... in change... Noodling of late has been sporatic and uneventful. That said, have bought and been given some INCREDIBLE stuff in the last 3 weeks!
