I'm really starting to dig pre-decimal Aussie bronze coins. I picked up this half penny yesterday. At first I though it had been cleaned at some point in time, but wasn't sure. I thought by the manner that the dirt is accumulated around the lettering that through normal circulated use the rest of the coin was kept cleaner. What do you folks think?

Looks like a fairly typical circulated Ha'penny. The fields inside the legends are cleaner from all the handling it received during it's time in circulation. If it was clean in the legends, then I'd say it had been cleaned, but my opinion is that it hasn't been cleaned.

G'day,
I agree with the earlier replies,
but I suggest that you have a close look for "Green Disease"
on rev., at midnight & 8 o'clock.

Thanks, my last thought was also that it wasn't cleaned, but I have been wrong more times than I care to admit, so I wanted to get some more experienced opinions.

Yes, there is definately some green there. I didn't see it until I took the pic, looks black to the naked eye.
