Good going Justa. Hopefully you'll have a 20c wavy soon too.

I think you'll find that mark is from the coin having being on an end of a roll. It's a scrape caused by the rolling process.

Although I have only really started seriously looking at collecting coins I have come across a couple of collector items previously which I just found where I had put them away.
The first is the 1992 $1 XXV Olympiad Barcelona coin, in the small Mint Wallet it was issued in with the mint building case. My grandma bought this for me when I was much younger when she visited the mint in Canberra. It was a good thing as a kid I was not that desperate for money to spend a $1 coin, as just looking the current information up shows a mintage of only 16,996 which includes a second wallet variety and value listed at $85.
Other dollars that I have found are two of the MYO coins 1 each of the 1997 and 1995 coins with the B Mintmark, and a 1999 Year of the Older Person in very good close to unc condition.

nancyc, re the possible counterfeit, does the 2 have an elongated tail, and is the legend misaligned further around under the queens neck to a normal 1996 $2.00?

farnby..No misalignment that I noticed. The 2 main reasons I think it could be a fake is that there are 'striations' from the centre of the coin out towards the edges & the milling doesn't match up agains another 1996. Otherwise, it seems genuine as far as the rest of the features go, but it just looked like a wrong un. I'll see if I can get a couple pictures posted.
I do have a 2003 counterfeit, and the 1996 in comparison makes the 2003 look very amatuerish.

When you get to see a number of counterfeit $50 notes, you wonder how people manage to pass them off without being picked up that they are counterfeit, and I know a little off subject, but it is not so hard to believe when you watch the following video at youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6ezOYm6MHs

Yes, the 03 is quite a poor attempt. Sounds interesting, will keep an eye out. Thanks nancyc.
