Nice example. Always hate to see the grading fee thrown away by cracking, though.

It was a 64 and looks great with the others in the album. Couldn't find the courage to crack out the ms66 old Spanish trail and the ms 65 Antietam but I'm down to only one for a complete type set the Hawaiian.

The Antietam battle coin is also a nice piece. The bloodiest day of the Civil War. I lost two relatives at Gettysburg fighting for the CSA. I really like those classic commemoratives. The modern ones are sort of cheesy.

Do you think classic commemoratives are somewhat overlooked by most collectors? I find them highly interesting and compelling.

With prices depressed from the highs in the past these coins are a steal at current day prices. I just have liked the veriaty and designs and have assembled all but one type over the last 35 years.

With very low mintage of the classic commemoratives by and large the prices are really low. Could the Mint produce more of the modern commemoratives if they want to do this because I see some very reasonably priced coins with low mintage in modern classic designs? The Ben Franklin and Abe Lincoln modern commemoratives are cheap and have mintage much less than you might expect.
