I picked these ASE's today.

Looking for opinions on the toning.

The pictures are close to what they look like in hand,
light purple toning on just the obverse.

hmmmm. I'm leaning towards improperly stored since the reverses are so different than the obverses. Maybe in a folder that was exposed to moisture?

At the coin shop we were wondering too, why these two toned like this.

They were from a older couple that said they bought their ASE's from
this same shop, years ago. They had between 50 to 100 different eagles.
These two were the only ones that had toning.

Some sort of improper storage, perhaps in very humid conditions, does seem a good guess, I agree.

Bottom line is it's one ounce of silver and no matter what someone or just atmospheric conditions does to these they're still one ounce of silver.
Personally, I like the look of these. Blast white ASE's tend to get boring.
Nice save GR!

Create your own:

1) ASE in capsule

2) open capsule

3) place on desk, filing cabinet anywhere undisturbed

4) forget about them for 6mos-2 years

5) close the capsule when you like the look...and before they go overboard

I really like the looks of that one Foxwood man

Sitting here drinking morning coffee ...

The color of the coins I posted did not get captured very well.

They are both a very pleasing light purple.

Quit lying fox. Tell the truth, you sent that ASE to the sun like lex luthor did with Superman's hair to create that anti-Superman "Nuclear Man" in Superman 4 didn't you

Well that pretty much describes all "natural toning"

I rarely post on the coin side, but is toning a coin term for tarnishing on silver coins ?
